OUR PATIENTS ARE THE REASON WE WORK We believe our patients are the most important people in the clinic; our patients are the reason we work. Patients brings us their pain and suffering, we are committed to care for them compassionately — with sensitivity and confidentiality. We are honored and humbled by the opportunity to serve them. |
Born and raised in Canada, Dr. Chris Edwardson pursued a career in medicine since announcing his intentions at five years of age. After completing his medical education at University of Saskatoon in Saskatchewan Canada, he joined the founding partners of Dallas Family Medicine, Dr. Charles & Dr. Casey, and has worked to continue their legacy. Through several building additions and remodels, staff changes, economic fluctuations, and cultural shifts in medicine Dr, Edwardson leads the staff in keeping the primary focus on our patients. Dr. Edwardson has always loved the unique challenge present in a multi-generational, family practice. He strives to stay on the cutting edge of medicine, expanding his skills in new areas such as aesthetic medicine, colonoscopy, and gastroscopy. He and his wife Jeanne appreciate the opportunity to live and work in such a picturesque and warm community where they have raised their two daughters Julia and Shayla—both daughters have returned to the community after completing their education; Julia, here at DFM as a PA, and Shayla, as a 6th grade teacher at LaCreole Middle School. They enjoy travel, entertaining, and their growing family with the marriages of their daughters and births of 3 grandchildren. Dr. Stephen Chaffee, a native of Spokane Washington, moved to Salem at 13 years of age. He graduated from South Salem high school and soon after married Lizette, his high school sweetheart, at Faith Free Church, here in Dallas. After completing undergraduate studies at Portland State University, he and his wife traveled to the mid-west where he attended Medical School at Des Moines University and completed his residency in family medicine at the University of Iowa. Immediately following medical school, he provided family medicine care in rural Iowa. While in Iowa, their first three children, Julia, Helen and Elaine, were born. After three years of practice in Iowa, the Chaffee’s returned to Oregon — initially to the Portland area and then to Dallas, where Dr. Chaffee joined Dallas Family Medicine in 2001. The Chaffee family has grown to eight with the addition of John, Stephen and Abigail. Dr. Chaffee’s training as a DO (Doctor of Osteopathy) uniquely equips him, having had additional training in the musculoskeletal system, including osteopathic manipulative treatment. Dr. Chaffee and family are very happy to be “home” where he “considers it a privilege to live and practice medicine in our community.” He enjoys being outdoors, spending time with family, reading, and old cars. Julia moved to Dallas with her family in 1983, when her dad, Dr. Edwardson, joined the founding partners of Dallas Family Medicine, Dr. Charles & Dr. Casey. She has many fond memories of both founding doctors who were like grandfathers to her, and she was especially close to Dr. Charles (who was known to patiently care for Julia’s animals—including adopted neighborhood stray cats). After graduating from Dallas High School, she completed her undergraduate education at Seattle Pacific University, during which time she married her high school sweetheart Jared Pulliam. The couple completed their vocational training in Oregon with Julia¹s graduation from the Physician Assistant program at Oregon Health & Science University and Jared¹s graduation from Western Oregon University. They now have 3 young children and Jared teaches 6th grade at LaCreole Middle School. Julia maintains minimal clinical hours (primarily providing urgent care for DFM patients) and focuses on her role as Director of Education, planning and implementing staff training and patient education with an emphasis on chronic disease prevention and management. Kim Lovato was born in Rawlins, Wyoming and raised there along with her 2 brothers. Her undergraduate studies were largely completed abroad, with travel through France and Germany while completing a Bachelor degree in Art & Architecture History. Kim has worked in sales, advertising and property management with great success over the years, but always had a love for medicine. She pursued medical training, while raising her three children, which enabled her to teach anatomy and physiology at a trade school. In 2006 she graduated from Pacific University as a Physician Assistant and joined the DFM team. Kim’s lifelong pursuit of medicine and genuine love for her patients is evident and has endeared her to the community. She enjoys spending time with family, including her three grown children, and continues to pursue a study in the arts including classical guitar and early European and Asian art forms. Born in San Diego, the youngest of 4 daughters, she has always called the west coast home, despite childhood moves throughout the US and even as far away as Australia. Joyce graduated high school in Syracuse, New York, and then completed her Bachelors of Science Degree in Pharmacology at the University of California at Santa Barbara. After spending time near family in San Diego and working in emergency medicine, she completed her Masters of Physician Assistant Studies and Child Health Associate degree at the University of Colorado at Denver, in 2010. Joyce’s love for the diversity and continuity of family medicine resonate with DFM’s commitment to care across the spectrum of life. She finds caring for the unique needs of adolescents and young adults especially rewarding. She loves living on the west coast and spending time outdoors hiking, skiing and exploring the great northwest. Faith was born in Wichita, Kansas, spending her grade school years in the mid-west before moving to Oregon. After graduating from Dallas High School, she married Rick Shinn, a true born-and- raised “Dallasite”. Rick was delivered in the old Dallas Hospital by one of DFM's original partners, Dr. Charles. Together, they raised two children, Erin and Andy, who now have their own families and live in Dallas. Pursuing her life-long dream of becoming “Nurse Nancy”, she joined the practice in 1991. Faith graduated from Chemeketa Community College in 1992 as a Certified Medical Assistant and in 2004 she finished her nursing degree as a registered nurse. Expanding beyond the traditional role of an RN, Faith has added aesthetic medicine to her areas of practice and found it to be rewarding both to her and her clients. Patient care is her passion, with a focus on bone health and osteoporosis. Faith and Rick enjoy friends and family, and spending time with their grandchildren. |
