Traditionally, the Holiday Season means the annual DFM Open House and Health Fair--and this is a tradition we plan to continue for years to come. This year, however, we are in the midst of implementing Electronic Health Records (EHR). The implementation of EHR can mean simply the utilization of a giant electronic filing cabinet, or it can provide the opportunity to remodel workflow, streamline processes, more efficiently manage chronic conditions, improve communication with other members of the healthcare team and reduce errors. This process requires a tremendous investment of time and resources, and in order to best serve our patients, every member of our team has been involved in this transition. After much thoughtful consideration, we determined that it would be poor management of staff resources to shift our attention away from EHR and to the Open House. We look forward to hosting another health fair and open house in the near future, so please check back here, this spring, for updates.
